SEATTLE - Police detectives are working overtime after a man was shot and killed Sunday night outside an apartment building in the Lake City neighborhood - Seattle's fourth homicide in less than 24 hours.

Officers and medics responded to the scene, in the 12700 block of 33rd Avenue NE, at around 10 p.m. after several 911 callers reported hearing a series of gunshots.

A security guard at the apartment building found a man with a gunshot wound to his chest and helped emergency personnel get to the victim.

Officers and medics attempted life-saving measures but the 28-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation found that the victim was returning home to his apartment when a car pulled up and multiple people opened fire, said Valerie Carson of the Seattle police.

Another person was also struck with a bullet and has a graze wound after that bullet went into one of the nearby apartments.

The shooting was just the latest in a series of violent episodes over the weekend that left a total of four dead and at least five wounded, with the violence extending across all corners of Seattle:

  • Blanchard Street and 1st Avenue about 1:45 a.m. Sunday: One person was killed during a fight that was reported at the scene. Police said in a written statement that a fight broke out in a bar that spilled out into the street. Police arrived and broke up the fight but they heard shots nearby, and found a man with gunshot wounds. Crews tried to save the victim but he was pronounced dead. A police spokesperson said late Sunday that two arrests have been made in connection with this killing, including one for suspicion of homicide and one for unlawful discharge of a weapon. Police identified one of the suspects as Isaih Tulasaga, 25. He was being held at the King County Jail. During an initial court appearance, a judge agreed to set bail for Tulasaga at $2 million after finding probable cause for second-degree murder. According to court documents, Tulasaga told police he was attempting to fire a warning shot in the air with his concealed gun to try and stop a fight going on but fired the weapon while raising his arm in the air. Ray Turner, who lives in the area, said he was too scared to look outside his window. "I don't want to come out and get shot," he said. Seattle Police also arrested Justin Satele in connection with the Belltown shooting but was arrested for investigation of unlawful discharge of a firearm, which is a gross misdemeanor.
  • 2nd Avenue and South Washington Street at 2:30 a.m. Sunday: While police were investigating the first incident, officers were called to the second location outside Trinity nightclub. located at 107 Occidental Ave. S., when gunfire erupted as over 300 people were leaving, Diaz said. Two men were shot at the scene, with one suffering critical injuries but another died at the location. Three of the victims were taken in personal vehicles to area hospitals. One of the victims taken to the hospital died there from their injuries, according to police. A witness told KOMO News that one man was apparently chasing another when they began shooting at each other. "There were maybe seven shots fired consecutively," the woman said, adding that frightened club patrons took cover as stray bullets struck several innocent bystanders in Pioneer Square, including one person who later died at the hospital. "They had everybody come inside (the club) and everyone stayed in there," she said.
  • 12th Avenue and South Main Street about 3:30 a.m. Sunday: Police were called to this scene and one shooting victim showed up at a local hospital seeking treatment, police said. According to investigators, a woman sought treatment at a Bellevue hospital after being shot in the stomach. She was being treated for a non-life-threatening injury from the incident, which occurred about 1:40 a.m.
  • Cal Anderson Park: At 4:40 a.m. Sunday, callers reported gunfire at the park, and a man sought treatment for a gunshot wound at Harborview Medical Center a few minutes later after taking a rideshare vehicle to the hospital. The victim told police he was shot after playing basketball at the park.

In a video posted to social media, interim Seattle Police Department Chief Adrian Diaz said the shootings were linked to an abundance of guns on city streets.

"We've got to figure out a way to get the guns off the streets," he said.

At least two people have been arrested in connection with the Belltown homicide.

Police are asking anyone with information about any of the shootngs to call the Violent Crimes tip hotline (206) 233-5000.
