Alcatraz East
Graffiti Art Contest
October 2024

About the Contest:

Graffiti Photo HeaderGraffiti is defined as images or lettering scratched, scrawled, painted or marked in any manner on buildings, bridges, or other surfaces. Graffiti may appear as anything from simply words to elaborate murals. However, it is also considered vandalism and can be an eyesore and economic burden in underused or abandon areas. To combat this costly problem, many cities have organized designated graffiti art spaces, or business owners have partnered with local artists to create murals on their properties.

Through this contest, Alcatraz East brings attention to creative solutions and partnerships, and provides street artists with an opportunity to showcase their talents and techniques. Judged by local law enforcement and art professionals, finalists will compete for cash prizes and the chance to have their winning pieces exhibited inside the museum!

Prizes:

  • 1st place: $1,200
  • 2nd place: $800
  • 3rd place: $500
