The Forums
The Forums assemble proven materials leaders in the building industry to identify alignment opportunities, build shared resources and knowledge, and accelerate impact. Through co-created tools and resources, made publicly available the Forums' work enables the building industry to send an aligned and clear market signal. The importance of the collaboration between the demand and supply sides of the building industry cannot be overstated. We've always wondered, "What if all owners and developers were on the same page with what they're asking of the market? What if manufacturers had a streamlined way to answer these request?" We don't need to wonder any longer.
The mM Forums are the building industry’s collective opportunity to leverage materials leadership and learning for the benefit of all. It’s time to stop redoing work, and start having more impact. Together.
Join The Forums
The Forums are for you if:

Your organization is a signatory to an industry-wide materials pledge (or working to build one)

You and your teams spend significant time and energy on identifying, specifying, manufacturing or procuring sustainable materials

You’re investing in developing internal workflow tools to make sustainable materials production, selection, specification, or procurement easier for your teams, and you want to see these tools connected to the Common Materials Framework.

You are part of a team of subject matter experts on sustainable materials, green chemistry, or a related field

You’re looking to share your knowledge and experience to accelerate the impact of your work
Individual Forums meet a minimum of 3x virtually throughout the year. All three Forum groups come together a minimum of 2x a year, including a half-day Workshop and a 2-day Summit.

Forums’ Work Into the Future: Present—2027
The Forums are not a short-term endeavor. Members are committed to at least a minimum of three years on this work, and it will take that time to get to the deep alignment and scaling we need.
While 2023-2024 (Year 1) was all about building foundational endorsement around the Aligned Ask, 2024-2025 (Year 2), has even bigger goals — working to translate, benchmark, and align implementable resources at all levels of the materials value chain. mindful MATERIALS will also be adding additional Forums, including a Technology Forum, to accelerate data connectedness and bring the shared connected data ecosystem to life. 2025-2026 (Year 3) will bring actual case studies of measurable impact of materials in projects as well as the creation of an ecolabel & standards Forum. And by 2026-2027 we will see a shift in the industry to need to update factors/data priorities and accelerate the next round of Factors in an updated aligned ask.
Manufacturers' Forum Group
Forums explore materials strategy as a whole with many, interconnected impacts (i.e. not just about carbon or just about ecosystems).
Forum members work to actively align their language and standards, and demonstrate a united materials message to the industry.
mM provides a neutral space and an external framework for values-aligned, productive exploration, alignment, and action.
The Forums are all about recognizing the power of the collective – for action, advocacy, and impact. Members seek win-win scenarios.
