Some things in life simply cannot be compromised.  At the top of that list is protecting innocent life.

I’m a former (and recovering) Democrat who lost a primary because I wouldn’t compromise my values — including protecting life. As a father and grandfather of a beautiful family, I know every life matters — and every life deserves a chance.

This year, our nation has a historic opportunity to end the atrocity of abortion. On Dec. 1, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health case, a case I pray will overturn Roe v. Wade and deliver a historic victory for our nation, the unborn and the global pro-life movement.

According to tracking data from both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Guttmacher Institute, there have been more than 62 million abortions in the United States since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973.

While the overwhelming majority support commonsense restrictions to abortions, specifically after the first trimester, Democrat politicians in Nevada and in Washington have completely lost their sense of reality. They are continually aided by feckless Republican politicians who refuse to vote the way they campaign.

By supporting abortions up to the moment of birth, the repeal of parental notification, and forcing taxpayers to foot the bill for abortions, Democrats and moderate Republicans have made it clear they are completely desensitized to the idea of abortion.

These inhumane policies are why I left the Democratic Party. As socialists have taken over our party, more radical and more extreme pro-abortion voices are dominating our state. We need a governor who will fight for common-sense values, starting with the defense of life.

Yet, even some Republicans are reluctant to take a strong stand defending life. These RINO politicians are more interested in winning office than protecting our values and standing up for the desperate, silent cries of the unborn and spiritually wounded potential mothers trampled by the pro-abortion coalition. They need to be held accountable.

These types of Republicans have joined with radical Democrats to lead our state and our nation down a dark and dangerous path, along which more than 1 million innocent lives are lost each year at the hands of abortion providers like Planned Parenthood.

If Mississippi is successful and the Supreme Court reverses Roe v. Wade, then states would have the right to regulate or prohibit abortion as they choose. And as governor, I will work to turn Nevada into a state where life is protected, not attacked.

As a candidate for governor, I’ve committed to pursuing the most pro-life agenda in Nevada’s history, including ensuring parental notification is protected and opposing taxpayer-funded abortion. We will ensure that Nevada never becomes a sanctuary state for abortions, as California has pledged to do.

I refused to back down to pro-abortion Democrats — and that’s why I was proud to receive an A rating from Nevada Right to Life for my stance.  I’ve lost political races because I wouldn’t compromise my pro-life values — but I never lost my integrity, because some things cannot be compromised.

As governor, I’ll have that same fearlessness and will fight to protect life — no matter the political cost.
