MADISON, WI—Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) today announced its first wave of endorsements for candidates vying for the Wisconsin State Senate. Senator Alberta Darling running for re-election to the 8th state senate district, Representative Rob Stafsholt running for the 10th state senate district, and former Senator Dan Kapanke vying for the 32nd state senate district have earned AFP-WI’s endorsement through their dedication and leadership in championing principled policies to improve the lives of all Wisconsinites. AFP-WI plans to leverage the full support of its grassroots, among other tactics, to urge voters to elect these candidates.
AFP-WI State Director Eric Bott issued the following statement:
“Our activists are excited to throw their full support behind Alberta Darling, Rob Stafsholt, and Dan Kapanke in their bids for the Wisconsin State Senate. These individuals have shown immense dedication to advancing sound policy for their constituents in Madison and great leadership by standing behind their principles – no matter the challenges. These candidates exceed our high expectations and have earned our full support.”
Senator Alberta Darling has proven she’s a leader during her time in the Wisconsin State Senate. Sen. Darling continues to fight for opportunity for all Wisconsinites by working to improve our education system and reform our criminal justice system. Her work this past session to make Wisconsin’s criminal justice system smarter on crime and softer on taxpayers shows both dedication and bold leadership that our state needs on this important issue. Through her role on the Joint Committee on Finance, Senator Darling also continues to provide a principled voice in spending and taxation legislation.
Representative Rob Stafsholt is a strong, principled leader and policy champion in the State Assembly. Rep. Stafsholt has shown time and time again his dedication to property rights by protecting the Homeowners Bill of Rights. He continues to fight for public and legislative oversight and input in the administrative rule-making process. Stafsholt stands out through his continued advocacy for greater access to better health care for constituents of the 10th Senate District.
Dan Kapanke has unmatched political courage and has shown that he is willing to take tough votes even if it puts himself at political risk. During his time in the State Senate, Kapanke was a leading voice for labor reforms, fighting for efforts that included 2011 Act 10. He brought much-needed leadership during the 2008 recession to Madison – opposing massive tax and fee hikes, wasteful spending practices, and poor fiscal management. Dan Kapanke will once again be a leading voice in the State Senate through his willingness to stand up for what’s right for Wisconsin, regardless of political convenience.
