Are you interested in a career in law enforcement?  Do you want to experience what it’s like to be a police officer? J
oin the Kentwood Police Department for four days of fun, interactive learning, where students will learn what it’s like to train to be an officer and experience the different roles and functions that police officers perform.  Graduating seniors, as well as students who will be entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year are eligible to apply. 

Students will learn first hand about the daily operations of the police  department, including the philosophy of teamwork, as well as develop life skills that promote safe, smart thinking and decision making.  They will receive training in various aspects of policing, and practice those skills as they participate in reality-based scenarios.  Attendees will leave with a better understand of the role law enforcement plays in the community, as well as the training and education required for police officers to effectively handle the challenges of their professions.

Through presentations, demonstrations and hands-on activities, students will learn about: 

  • Traffic Stops
  • Drunk Driving Enforcement
  • Building Searches
  • Subject Control
  • Handcuffing
  • Special Response Team
