Small Business Center to Partner with NCDOT to Help Disadvantaged Business Enterprises

Southeastern Community College Small Business Center will partner with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) for a Disadvantaged Business Enterprises event on Saturday, September 25 from 10 am – 12 noon at Southeastern Community College in D-Building.

Attendants can learn how companies can do business with NCDOT through contracting opportunities.

“The goal of the DBE program is to level the playing field by providing small businesses that are owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals a fair opportunity to compete for federally funded transportation contracts,” said Pamela Young-Jacobs, Director of Small Business Center. “In the next few years, NCDOT will be letting large contracts in and around Columbus County. Our Small Business Center is working with NCDOT in this outreach event to equip our small business community with the information and certifications they will need to procure this upcoming work. These procurements will not only build the small business itself but our communities and county.”
