Our deep commitment to supporting burn survivors goes back to the very beginnings of our organization. In more than three decades of work, we have discovered over and over that those with life-altering burn injuries are victors – not victims. From bike rides and golf invitationals to youth leadership opportunities and our signature Summer Camp for Burn-Injured Youth, we work tirelessly – and in partnership with Burn Centers across the state – to deliver much needed continuation of care that help those we serve to not just survive but thrive.

Summer Camp for Burn Injured YouthOur Summer Camp for Burn Injured Youth, or “Burn Camp” for short, is a free, week-long, overnight summer camp experience for kids with life-changing burn injuries to grow their lifelong support system, continue to heal from the emotional trauma of their burns, and just be a kid. The dedication and participation of more than 100 burn survivors and volunteers makes this camp special for everyone who attends.
Our 30th annual Burn Camp will be held from August 11th-17th, 2024 at Camp Timber-lee in East Troy, WI. Each year our Steering Committee works year-round to plan a new Burn Camp theme that makes each child’s experience fresh, unique, and more impactful. The theme for this year’s Burn Camp is “Be a Star in Life”with activities for the week revolving around a Hollywood, red carpet theme and empowering campers to star in their own lives and communities.

PFFWCF’s Leadership Retreat for Young Adult Burn Survivors is held in the Wisconsin Dells area each year with young adult burn survivors (ages 17-25) from all across Wisconsin attending. The focus of this weekend is service leadership that provides burn survivors with the tools and skills needed to overcome obstacles in their lives and thrive as leaders in their communities.
This year’s Leadership Retreat for Young Adult Burn Survivors was held from Friday, June 28th to Sunday, June 30th, 2024. Wisconsin burn survivors were 17-25 are invited to join us at Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells for a weekend of fun, friendship, and growth.

The PFFWCF, along with our partners, provides support and collaboration with Wisconsin Burn Centers. Our goal is to ensure the best treatments and outcomes possible; as well as, improving continuity into our programming.

The Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation is pleased to provide scholarships to burn survivors who attend or have attended our programming. This scholarship is open to burn survivors who have participated in PFFWCF’s Burn Survivor Support programming and are continuing their education or training in any way, whether through a post-secondary technical or training program, a 2-year or 4-year college institution, or another program that furthers education or career-readiness in some way.
