John Lewis launches first womenswear rental collection

John Lewis & Partners has today (3 October) launched its first womenswear rental collection, powered by rental platform Hurr.

Drapers - John Lewis launches first womenswear rental collection

The platform will host a range of over 20 curated John Lewis brands, including Whistles and Somerset by Alice Temperley along alongside exclusive collaborations such as the upcoming Erica Davies + John Lewis collection.

Customers will be able to browse the collection at johnlewis.com/fashionrental.

Garments will be available to rent for either four, eight, 10 or 20 days, with next day delivery options if needed. Rental prices start from £10 for a Roop handbag.

Once the items have been chosen, the products will be posted directly to the address and included will be a pre-paid postage label for returns.

The items will be dry cleaned by Hurr using Oxwash responsible laundry services, and ready to be rented again.

John Lewis commercial director, Kathleen Mitchell, said: “Our new rental platform introduces new and exciting designers to our customers, encouraging them to support a more sustainable way to shop.

“Offering a stylish edit of new brands mixed with exclusive products from our own collections, this a truly unique proposition that cannot be found by any other high street retailer. Shopping more sustainably shouldn’t have to cost the earth, that’s why supporting innovative partnerships can truly make a difference and help change consumer behaviours.”

Pippa Wicks, executive director of John Lewis & Partners, first revealed news of the womenswear rental collection at the retailer's autumn/winter 22 media showcase last month.
