Brampton to celebrate Canada Day online with JUNO award-winning headliner Walk Off The Earth

BRAMPTON, ON (June 23, 2020) – To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the City of Brampton is taking its Canada Day celebration online! The City is thrilled to announce this year’s headliner, JUNO award-winning band Walk Off The Earth.

The event will take place at www.brampton.ca/canadaday from noon to 10 PM on Wednesday, July 1. There will be family-friendly activities, authentic Canadian recipes, a list of restaurants offering take out and delivery options and more available online throughout the day.

This year, everyone gets a front row seat to Brampton’s Canada Day stage, from the comfort of their own home. A digital stage presented by Alectra will begin streaming at 5:30 PM, featuring performances from local artists, and JUNO award-winning headliner Walk Off The Earth.

At 8 PM, the stream will transition to CBC’s nationwide online Canada Day broadcast from Ottawa, where Brampton artist Haviah Mighty is one of many Canadian artists to perform.

To cap off the celebration, viewers can watch an exciting fireworks experience in augmented reality! The digital fireworks display, sponsored by Tim Hortons, offers residents a unique and safe alternative to traditional Canada Day fireworks displays during the COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual show starts online at 10 PM, powered by Snapd Community Hub.

Brampton Canada Day is generously sponsored by Alectra, Tim Hortons, Allstate, Algoma University and Bell.
