Adventures in Medical Education for a Healthy Community!

Do you want to learn how doctors think and try your hand at diagnostic reasoning? Visit a medical research lab where scientists are finding new ways to improve health? Listen to a patient talk about how a chronic disease affects one’s life? Learn about cholesterol at the molecular and clinical level? Consider new approaches to treating cancer and advances in pediatric oncology (cancer)? Try your hand at making difficult health policy decisions?

You can do all of these things during Mini-Medical School, presented by the University of Virginia’s School of Medicine

      • 7 consecutive Wednesday evenings in the fall
      • University of Virginia School of Medicine, Claude Moore Medical Education Building

Community members are welcome to join us in the state-of-the-art Claude Moore Medical Education Building for this enriching program. Enthusiastic and engaging faculty members from the School of Medicine will lecture and answer questions on topics such as anatomy, diabetes, hypertension, medical research, and more. Tuition is free, there are no exams, and participants receive a certificate of attendance. One Mini-Medical School alum describes the program as, “The most interesting and best organized educational experience I’ve ever had.”

Program Overview & Agenda

Mini-Medical School will meet on seven consecutive Wednesday evenings during the fall. Throughout the program many fascinating topics in medical education will be examined, such as medical reasoning, dyslipidemia, anatomy, diabetes, and more.
