Planned Parenthood South Atlantic v. Stein

Description:  Abortionists are challenging a number of North Carolina’s pro-life laws, including the state’s provision that requires abortions after 12 weeks gestation be performed in a hospital and for doctors to confirm a non-ectopic pregnancy before prescribing chemical abortion drugs.

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Erik Baptist regarding the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina’s decision Friday to prevent North Carolina’s pro-life laws from going into effect while the lawsuit, Planned Parenthood South Atlantic v. Stein , continues:

“Abortion is not health care, and North Carolina is free to protect the health and safety of women and girls in the state. The General Assembly reasonably enacted commonsense protections for women undergoing chemical and surgical abortions. North Carolina women deserve the dignity and respect that comes from receiving life-affirming health care—not the abortion industry’s false choice between doing what’s best for the mother and protecting the life of her child. We will consider all legal options to further support North Carolina’s unborn children and mothers, and the right of the General Assembly to protect its vulnerable citizens.”
