Vectorworks, Inc. has released its third Service Pack (SP3) for the Vectorworks 2022 product line. This major update includes the following new functionality, improvements, and bug fixes.

For a full list of improvements in the 2022 SP3 update, please visit this page.

    Service Pack Highlights

    • Datasmith Direct Link and export improvements:
      • The Datasmith Direct Link now stays open for continual synchronization until it is closed.
      • Non-graphical object record and IFC metadata can now be sent to the Datasmith model.
      • Object labels now use the more readable user-supplied names when possible.
      • You can now specify where Datasmith stores the model data.
      • Ambient light, point light, spot light, and directional light objects are included in the Datasmith model, for use in programs that can accommodate them.
    • Vision now supports the PosiStageNet (PSN) protocol for pre-programmed and real time transforms.
    • The Spotlight and Vision MVR workflow now uses the glTF/glb file format for the improved transfer of geometric and image-based texture data.
    • A new Spotlight preference, Orient loads with rigging objects when snapping in 2D, allows you to align loads with rigging objects when placing them in 2D views.
    • When reshaping cable paths and joining two cable path objects in Spotlight and ConnectCAD, the new Auto Heal Paths mode toggles between merging the objects into one object or keeping them separate.
    • ConnectCAD enhancements:
      • A layout room can be created using the Create Objects from Shapes command.
      • You can delete custom devices from the device builder, preventing clutter in the Make/Model list.
      • You can check for cable paths that are not connected.
      • Custom parameters for signals, connectors, and cable types from another user's file can be accessed from the Object Info palette without being added.
      • When creating devices from a worksheet, you can assign worksheet columns to the device parameters.
      • Cable route analysis excludes circuits to and from external connections named with <EXT>.
    • Vectorworks Cloud Services improvements:
      • New Unity®-based Nomad and Web View: Now it is easier to view, navigate, share, and manipulate large models on the Vectorworks Cloud services web portal and the Nomad mobile app, in Unity-based 3D and augmented reality (AR) views. An improved 3D model export (VGX) makes this possible.
      • Integration with Google Drive™: Google Drive integration now supports viewing and processing files stored on shared drives and in the “Shared with me” list.
      • Integration with Microsoft® OneDrive®: Vectorworks files saved in the OneDrive app can be processed in the Vectorworks cloud and viewed on the web portal.
      • Regional storage improvement: Users can choose the geographical location where their files are stored, enabling them to select a region that complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and helping to improve sync times and viewing performance.
      • Vectorworks Nomad integration with the Apple® Files app: Files exported by any mobile app to the Nomad location in the iOS Files app are synced to the Vectorworks Cloud Services folder on the desktop and can be referenced into Vectorworks. Changes made to files on the mobile device are made available in Vectorworks by updating the reference.
      • Lidar point cloud: Users having Apple mobile devices equipped with a lidar scanner can scan an area with Vectorworks Nomad and upload the point cloud to their Vectorworks Cloud Services account. The point cloud is then downloaded by the Vectorworks Cloud Services desktop app and can be imported into Vectorworks.
