Dr. Samuolis graduated from Fairfield University with B.A. degrees in Psychology and Spanish and an M.A. in Community Counseling program, completing the associated clinical work at a local family services agency in Bridgeport. She earned her Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from Fordham University while conducting research in the field of adolescent developmental psychopathology with an emphasis on adolescent substance abuse. She subsequently completed a three-year postdoctoral research fellowship in the School of Public Health at Columbia University. Throughout her professional career she has worked as a Consultant for college counseling/wellness centers and nonprofit agencies, and is currently an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department.

Research Interests

Dr. Samuolis's research focuses on prevention science and program development and evaluation related to the prevention of risk behaviors among adolescents and young adults. Recently, she has focused on the prevention of substance abuse in adolescents.  She also conducts research on adolescent and young adult identity development.
