Kari Williams (she/her) is originally from Brooklyn, NY. With over 25 years of experience as a dance educator, administrator, director, and choreographer, Ms. Williams is inspired to work towards the development of dance artists and communities through education, adjudication, curriculum development, recruitment, and outreach. She brings a unique energy to her classes and programs by infusing her various background experiences with current standards and methodologies. Her work is rooted in classical dance and combined with the creative energy and impulses of current contemporary styles. For many years, she was a dance teaching assistant to Jazz dance legend Mr. Frank Hatchett, at Broadway Dance Center and across the national dance convention circuit. Williams served as the Director of Dance for Moore Catholic High School’s Performing Arts Institute from 2005-2012. She founded her own private dance school, Liv2Dance Studio and company, SHADOW/light Pre-Professional Youth Contemporary dance ensemble in 2007 and has maintained an active teaching and directing career ever since. Ms. Williams was also featured in Dance Studio Life Magazine for the creation of a “Revolutionary Recital”. From 2012 -2016, she worked as a Professor of Musical Theatre and Jazz dance at Wagner College in Staten Island, NY. She holds an MA in Dance Education: Teaching Dance in the Professions from NYU/Steinhardt where she studied higher education programming, curriculum development, and dance pedagogy. From 2016 - present, Ms. Williams has served as the Director of Dance at Sacred Heart University while continuing to work actively on the national dance convention and competition circuit as both a master instructor and adjudicator. Ms. Williams is actively working towards an Ed.D in Educational Leadership as a testament to her commitment to being fully invested in students and their education. Ms. Williams is an inspiration to dancers, communities, and teachers alike, devoting her teaching career to fully engaging her students in the creative process and directing them towards their unique goals.
