Elliott Bertrand received his degrees in mathematics from the University of Rhode Island. He is an enthusiastic educator and particularly enjoys introducing students to novel topics and perspectives, often by incorporating technology inside and outside the classroom. His research interests lie primarily in the areas of discrete dynamical systems and the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning. He and colleagues from the Farrington College of Education & Human Development were recently awarded a National Science Foundation grant that focuses on improving the teaching of introductory mathematics courses by integrating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) strategies. An avid musician, he has performed as a violinist with the SHU Orchestra and he occasionally performs at venues in New England.
