The most successful companies and the most successful leaders are the ones that know how to manage the most valuable asset that a company has: its people, their skills and their creativity. This requires managers and leaders to not only have knowledge of functional skills but more importantly, how to manage interdisciplinary teams and how to create a corporate culture of innovation.
The MBA is still the most widely recognized graduate degree for managerial positions and above. While many specialized master's degrees can help you with your first job, an MBA is key for a career as a leader.
A part of the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology, the MBA at Sacred Heart is one of fewer than five percent of elite business schools worldwide accredited by AACSB International. As a student, you will have access to world class facilities including the IDEA Lab, AI Lab and Finance Lab. You will learn from professors with years of corporate experience; 95% of our full-time faculty also have doctoral degrees.
Using data from an actual Fortune 500 company, teams develop professional strategic and marketing plans, including plans for international expansion for the company and its products. The course is taught by three senior faculty members with backgrounds in strategic planning, international marketing and finance so that student teams can work to effectively integrate the various disciplines.
While all of our courses are taught by applying theory to real world business problems and simulations, our Integrated Core (as explained above) and our Capstone course make Sacred Heart unique among area programs. The Capstone course is completed in conjunction with the Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Sacred Heart, which provides free strategic consulting projects to numerous nonprofit organizations in the Connecticut area. The combination of the Integrated Core and the Capstone provide students with impactful experiential learning. In the last five years, 349 MBA students completed 76 projects and spent 26,175 consulting hours for nonprofit organizations in Connecticut.
