Welcome to the Counseling Center

We are glad you’re here! We want to help you achieve your wellness goals to overcome the personal, academic and social challenges that come with the college experience.

SHU Counseling Center provides comprehensive short-term, goal-directed counseling in a confidential environment for full-time undergraduate students. Our counselors help you explore your experiences with the goal of developing awareness and skills to meet life’s challenges. The Counseling Center also offers mental wellness outreach services through s.w.e.e.t Peer Educators, consultations to faculty and staff for students of concern, and new psychiatric medication evaluations for students in need of these services.”

SHU Counseling is made up of Licensed Mental Health Professionals who offer multi-culturally competent and evidence-based treatment approaches to meet the diverse needs of students today. We also partner with local Universities where we train and supervise graduate interns who provide clinical services to students at SHU. For students who may need higher levels of care that cannot be treated by the Counseling Center, we will collaborate with you to identify services that best meet your needs.

On this site you will find valuable resources for students, faculty and staff, including information on how to schedule an appointment with a counselor, how to get help in an emergency, and useful resources on various mental health topics.

Thank you for having the courage to take this first step and we look forward to hearing from you!

Our Commitment To You

The counseling center is committed to supporting all members of the Sacred Heart community by creating a safe, confidential, affirming, and inclusive environment that embraces diversity and honors the intersecting identities of everyone on our campus. We stand in solidarity with intersectional communities who are disproportionately impacted by injustice.

We stand with you.

What We Do

We are a wellness resource for the entire Sacred Heart University community. The Counseling Center works with students to promote mental health.
