MDOT Fellows Program
The Maryland Department of Transportation Fellows Internship Program is designed to introduce Maryland’s most promising college students to the rewards and challenges of working within Maryland’s integrated transportation system. During the summer, interns are placed in senior-level assignments in one of MDOT’s integrated system of agencies. The MDOT Fellows Internship Program is offered by The Shriver Center in partnership with the Office of the Secretary of Transportation.

Maryland Department of Transportation – Morgan State University Graduate School Internship Program (MDOT-MSU GSIP)
More than 30 years ago, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) partnered with Morgan State University’s National Transportation Center to provide internship opportunities to deserving graduate students pursuing careers in the transportation industry. The purpose of the MDOT–MSU GISP is to increase and retain the number of professional entering in the field of transportation in order to sustain growth and improvement throughout the industry.

Program Requirements

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in a Morgan State University Graduate Studies Program pursing a Masters in Engineering, Masters of Science in Transportation, Landscape Architecture, Finance, Information Technology, or City and Regional Planning.
  • Have successfully completed one semester of graduate level courses.
  • Be registered for a minimum of nine (9) credit hours per semester (except during the summer).
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Be able to successfully complete a background check.

Program Details

Program participants will:

  • Serve a one-year term.
  • Be compensated.
  • Acquire substantive work experience that will complement their academic background and career aspirations.
  • Work with a mentor and have an opportunity to establish a network with professionals in the transportation industry.
