A little about me.

I’m an ordained Baptist minister, speaker, meditation teacher and California’s Mother of the Year® 2021. My areas of passion and expertise collide at the intersection of mental health and the Black Church experience.

My educational journey began at Howard University (HU!) and wound its way through a BA in Sociology at California State University East Bay, a Master of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary, and culminated with a Doctor of Ministry at McCormick Theological Seminary as part of The Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. cohort in African American Centered Religious Thought and Practice.

After over twelve years in pastoral ministry I moved into academia, working with students of diverse religious experiences around matters of faith and social justice. I’m a meditation guide and contributor to the Healthy Minds Innovations app which The New York Times recently named one of the three best meditation apps on the market.

In 2022 two dear friends and I launched Righteous, Ratchet and Real, a podcast for people who love God but sometimes side-eye the Church. We and our guests discuss various facets of life through the lens of the Gospel and contemporary culture.
