Daniels provides end-of-year report to trustees

In his report to the Board of Trustees, President Mitch Daniels highlighted several records broken in the past academic year. External research expenditures across the Purdue system reached a new university high, as did applications for enrollment in the upcoming fall semester for international, nonresident and resident undergraduate students. Meanwhile, summer enrollment in courses grew faster than any school in the Big Ten for the second year in a row, setting another Purdue record. Purdue trustees approve 2023 health plans

The Purdue University Board of Trustees today (Aug. 5) approved 2023 health plans, which will have no employee premium increase for the fourth straight year. Additionally, in appreciation for their actions to establish Purdue as a leader in delivering high-quality benefits with innovative population health solutions at the lowest possible costs, all employees enrolled in a Purdue medical plan will receive a cash payment later this year equal to two months of the average employee premium – an estimated cost of $2.4 million.

Purdue trustees approve naming of Helen Bass Williams Academic Success Center and Schweikle Aero/Astro Research Labs, resolutions of appreciation

Fifty years ago, Helen Bass Williams, the first African American professor at Purdue University, played a leading role in establishing the Learning Center, now the Academic Success Center, on the West Lafayette campus. Today (Aug. 5), Purdue’s Board of Trustees approved changing the name of that facility to the Helen Bass Williams Academic Success Center.

Trustees ratify faculty positions, award posthumous degree, approve contract amendments for Painter

The Purdue University Board of Trustees today (Aug. 5) ratified two faculty positions and awarded a posthumous degree. Trustees also agreed to amended contract terms for men’s basketball head coach Matt Painter.

Purdue trustees approve 10-year capital plan

The Purdue University Board of Trustees today (Aug. 5) reviewed and approved the university’s 10-year capital plan, which informs the 2023-25 legislative capital request the university submits to the state.

Purdue trustees approve Max W & Maileen Brown Family Hall renovation; repair and rehabilitation projects

The Max W & Maileen Brown Family Hall will add instructional lab capacity – needed to accommodate student enrollment growth – after the Purdue University Board of Trustees today (Aug. 5) granted approval to plan, finance, construct and award construction contracts for renovation to the home of the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Trustees also approved two repair and rehabilitation projects – Vawter Hall electrical enhancements and replacements and northwest chiller plant system improvements.

Governor announces trustee appointments

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb has announced the appointment of a new Purdue University trustee and the reappointment of two current trustees. Shawn A. Taylor was appointed to serve a three-year term, replacing Don Thompson, who has stepped down after 13 years on the board. Lawrence (Sonny) Beck and Malcolm DeKryger were reappointed to serve three-year terms.

Elsenbaumer reports on Purdue Fort Wayne

Ron Elsenbaumer, chancellor of Purdue University Fort Wayne, today (Aug. 5) updated the Board of Trustees on PFW's strategic plan for 2020-25 and its four pillars: Champion Student Success; Embrace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Enhance Quality of Place; and Promote Community Engagement. He said that the PFW student profile has swung from 75% part-time in 2010 to 82% full-time in 2021, and that 91% of graduates are employed in the state of Indiana. Elsenbaumer also highlighted the forthcoming construction of a new music building and the need for more student housing.

Dooley highlights Purdue Global's 2023 investments

At the Purdue Global Board of Trustees meeting today (Aug. 5), Chancellor Frank Dooley highlighted important investments the university is making for fiscal year 2023, including a deeper commitment to student success; greater alignment with Purdue West Lafayette; partnerships with Guild, Ivy Tech and Google; and identifying and using transformative learning technologies (classroom of the future). In addition, trustees approved increasing the size of the Purdue Global board to seven members along with the ratification of vice presidents and academic officers.
