School attendance and clinically vulnerable families – a guide for parents and schools

Earlier this week, the Education Secretary sent out new guidance which conceded that schools need to be sensitive to families’ needs when considering absence due to Covid. This is a big win for clinically extremely vulnerable families.

We promised then that we would publish a guide to help both schools and parents understand the Government’s new guidance – here it is:

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Government recklessly announced that all children should return to school, even if they had previously been classed as clinically extremely vulnerable. We successfully put pressure on the Education Secretary to guarantee support for vulnerable children and families.
