Laxalt has been going against strong headwinds from the time he first announced his underdog campaign against two-term Democratic Secretary of State candidate Ross Miller last January, all the way up to the drive from southern to northern Nevada to move into his new post. “He was the one guy who never had a doubt that he could win, said Robert Uithoven, Laxalt's campaign consultant. Adam Laxalt Doubles Down on Abortion Restrictions

Sep 28, 2021

As new reports from Bloomberg and Axios highlight how Adam Laxalt’s support for banning abortion puts him out of step with Nevada voters, Laxalt’s campaign is… doubling down on his support for anti-abortion policies.

According to Axios, “65% of voters in the state consider themselves ‘pro-choice.’” But — despite that reality — Laxalt’s campaign doubled down on his anti-abortion record in a statement.

Here’s the anti-abortion record that Laxalt is running on, as summarized by Bloomberg:

  • “Laxalt has taken strongly anti-abortion positions.”
  • “As Nevada attorney general until 2019, Laxalt supported legal challenges by other states to restrict abortion access.”
  • “Laxalt suggested when he ran for governor he might try to roll back a 1990 Nevada referendum protecting abortion rights, which passed with support of 63% of voters.”

It’s easy to see why Nevadan reproductive health care advocates are already warning voters about Laxalt’s anti-abortion record and agenda.
