Hello:

This March, Representatives Ron Kind (D-WI), David McKinley (R-WV), Nanette Barragán (D-CA), and Buddy Carter (R-GA) introduced H.R. 7213, the Equitable Community Access to Pharmacist Services Act.

The bipartisan legislation would ensure seniors can continue to access essential pandemic and other related health services from pharmacists, including services to keep communities safe from future public health threats.

What Does H.R. 7213 Do?

  • Medicare Part B Reimbursement for Pharmacist Care & Services. H.R. 7213 ensures Medicare Part B direct payment for pharmacists’ services related to COVID-19 and related diseases, including testing, immunization, and treatment initiation.
  • Medicare Coverage & Payment for Future Public Health Emergencies. H.R. 7213 also ensures that seniors have access to pharmacy- and pharmacist-provided services during future public health emergencies.

Recently, the National Rural Health Association, American Red Cross, National Kidney Foundation, Susan G. Komen, and VillageMD joined more than 115 national and state-based associations representing patients, pharmacists, community pharmacies, and rural and underserved communities that support H.R. 7213.

The Future of Pharmacy Care Coalition, a group representing pharmacists and pharmacies of all sizes serving millions of patients daily across the U.S., urges members of the House of Representatives to cosponsor H.R. 7213 to combat COVID-19 and improve patient access to essential care.

Contact Olivia Kirchberg (olivia.kirchberg@mail.house.gov) in Rep. Ron Kind’s office or Jeannine Bender (Jeannine.Bender@mail.house.gov) in Rep. David McKinley’s office for more information and to sign-on as a cosponsor.

Thank you.
