Pathways for Future Engineers

Program Overview:

Pathways for Future Engineers is a multi-year Virginia Tech College of Engineering program designed to support first generation students and their families on the pathway from high school to an engineering degree. The program includes pre-college activities  (while students are still in high school) as well as additional support as students pursue their undergraduate degree.

Pathways for Future Engineers includes a number of initiatives to support high school students on the pathway to college, including summer engineering programs, college application support, campus visits, and opportunities to build community with current and future Hokies. Pathways for Future Engineers also provides support after students are admitted to the Virginia Tech College of Engineering. In-college support includes:

1.  Student Transition Engineering Program (STEP)

2. Digerati, Galileo, and Hypatia Living Learning Communities

3. Rising Sophomore Abroad Program

Eligibility

The application is for new applicants to the Pathways for Future Engineers Programs at Virginia Tech. Participants in this program must be a Virginia resident and entering grades 10th, 11th, or 12th in the Fall of 2024. Participation in this program is limited to potential first-generation college students meaning that neither parent graduated from a four-year higher education institution or equivalent institution in the United States or abroad.
