You must be familiar with the term hacking if you weren’t raised in a cage. Basically, hacking is identifying the weaknesses in a computer system and gaining unauthorized access to data on a computer.
Like every other job, hackers have different types too. The main three types of hackers are the black hat, white hat, and grey hat. Basically, black hat hackers are the stereotypical, “bad” hackers that you’re familiar with. They break into businesses and steal your bank details, confidential data, or your money.

Grey hat hackers are the ones who have all the skills of black and white hat hackers but who do the hacking for fun; they don’t want to steal any money or information or help people.
While hacking has become a huge thing in the world throughout the years, here are 7 countries that have the majority of hackers.
1. China
With a rate of 41% of the world’s cyberattacks, China is placed at the top. Of course, it’s not surprising to most people. The purpose of the hacker attacks on China is mostly to hack the networks of the U.S.A. and its allies.
Lately, China hackers were suspected of Airbus cyberattacks, aiming the technical details on the military A400M and passenger A350 airbuses in September 2019, and were suspected of the cyberattack on the U.S. utilities in August 2019.
2. United States
The owner of the second place, the USA, holds 10% of the world’s cyberattack traffic. One of the hacker groups based in the USA is Anonymous. In June 2019, President Trump ordered a cyberattack against Iranian weapons systems. Also, the Iranian Nuclear Power Plant was attacked by a Trojan to disrupt the centrifuges.
3. Turkey
Turkey takes third place with a rate of 4.7% of global cyberattacks. Turkish hackers have increased their activities in recent years. One of the most famous hacker teams from Turkey is the “Ayyıldız Team,” which was founded in 2002.
The group became famous for hacking the website of the United States Department of Defense. In December 2015, they hacked the website of another hacker group Anonymous.
4. Russia
4.3% of global hack attack traffic is generated from Russia. Even though it ranks as 4th in the list, they are able to and they do hack the most secure networks in the world. In April 2015, CNN reported that “penetrated sensitive parts of the White House” computers were hacked by Russian hackers. They also performed hacking against the most secure websites in countries such as France, Germany, the UK, and much more.
Also in the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro a Russian government hacking group gained access to a database with drug-test results and confidential medical data.
5. Taiwan
Even though having a small population of 23.78 million, Taiwan is the 5h country that holds the majority of hackers in the world. In November 2019, the US and Taiwan started a test for a joint cyber-war exercise.
6. Brazil
Brazil ranks as the 6th country in the list of countries with the biggest number of hackers. After the 2016 Olympics in Rio, which had a cyberattack from Russian hackers, Brazilian hackers became the world’s focus. Brazil holds the biggest number of cyberattacks, with a share of 3.3% in global attacks, in the southern hemisphere.
The big number of hackers is caused by poor economic conditions in the country. A big percentage of the population of Brazil uses electronic and online payment systems, which makes them more vulnerable to hacker attacks.
7. Romania
The last one on the list of countries with the biggest number of hackers is Romania. It takes a 3.3% share in global cyberattacks. Romania even has a city called Ramnicu Valcea, a Hackerville, a town with a lot of different organized groups of hackers, which forms most of the cyberattacks in the country.
