ABOUT

The ARIIL Lab presents itself as an opportunity to shape the emerging field of Architecture and Artificial Intelligence, and to reflect on the implications of a world increasingly entangled in questions of the expediency, agency, culture, and ethics of AI.

This rapidly developing field of architectural inquiry is ready for a rigorous interrogation. Almost daily, new practices emerge that focus on the incredible opportunities that an expanded human mind through AI offer for the discipline of architecture. The Laboratory oscillates between those poles of tension, in order to create new knowledge within this paradigm changing new ecology of design.

The research at ARIIL allows for a rigorous interrogation of specific research in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Architecture design, fusing the agencies of design with robotics and computer science. The research focus on very specific problems, such as 3D applications of AI in Architecture using meshes, or image segmentation to recognize and organize architectural spaces.
