The Kanawha County Republican Executive Committee voted Tuesday night in favor of a resolution saying they have "no confidence" in the leadership of West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice.

The vote cites his lack of support for Republican principles.

The former county chairwoman Carolyn Stricklen says that the governor's support for Donald Trump is not enough to win the trust of Republicans, citing the fact that Justice, who is now a Republican, was elected as a Democrat.

Strickland also says that the Governor has not been supportive of education reform as proposed by Republican leadership at the beginning of the 2019 legislative session.

"Many Republicans across the state have become frustrated that Governor Justice has not been supportive of comprehensive education reform," Stricklen said. Stricklen continued, "School choice is part of the Republican Party platform. Jim Justice does not support school choice. The State Senate has passed an excellent comprehensive reform bill that needs the support of a Republican Governor. Another part of our party platform is paycheck protection and right-to-work. For years, the unions have controlled the Democratic Party and held our worker's hard earned money and workplace freedom hostage. Jim Justice does not support these much needed reforms, as a good Republican Governor should," Stricklen said in a news release.

Gov. Justice has called for a special session on education reform. A date has not been set at this time. Currently, state leaders are hosting listening sessions to hear what West Virginians think needs to be done to reform education in the state.
