Airbnb showed strength in numbers in its most recent financial report, exhibiting impressive growth in a few key metrics.

The data analysts at Casinos En Ligne have crunched the numbers to deliver some key insights on Airbnb’s 2022 financial report.

The online marketplace saw its growth disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, as bookings were cut by more than 40 percent, but it bounced back in a strong way last year.

In fact, Airbnb managed to increase its revenue by 40 percent year-over-year as guests booked 393.7 million nights and experiences in 2022, up 31 percent YoY. The gross booking value of those nights and experiences totaled $63B, a YoY jump of 31%.

Here are the highlights from the data below.

Airbnb 2022 revenue increased 40% to $8.4B

After seeing its bookings cut by more than 40 percent in 2022 due to COVID-19, many investors were skeptical, at best, about Airbnb’s future as a disruptor in the hospitality industry.

Not only has Airbnb bounced back from the pandemic, but the business has already exhibited growth compared to its pre-pandemic levels.

In 2022, revenue jumped to 8.4 billion, a year-over-year increase of 40 percent. The number also represents a 75% jump compared to three years ago.

Revenue totaled $1.9 billion in Q4 2022, demonstrating strong continued strong travel demand heading into 2023.

Gross booking value jumps to $63B, a year-over-year increase of 35%

Buoyed by an increase in international travel, Airbnb enjoyed more bookings in 2022, which helped drive revenue for the company and its hosts.

Airbnb exhibited strong growth in nights and experiences booked, which was the catalyst behind nearly 13.5 billion in gross booking revenue in Q4 2022 alone.

Overall, nights and experiences booked brought in $63.2 billion in gross booking value in 2022, up 35 percent compared to 2021 and 67 percent over the last three years.

393.7M nights and experiences booked in 2022, up 31% YoY

Airbnb is hosting more nights and experiences than ever before.

The online short-stay marketplace finished off the year strong by hosting 88.2 million nights and experiences in Q4 2022, a 20 percent jump compared to the prior year.

In total, nights and experiences booked rose by 31 percent YoY to 393.7 million in 2022.

Airbnb listings increased by 15.7% in 2022

With Airbnb revenue on the rise, hosts have also been listing their homes in hopes of cashing on the uptick in travel.

The number of listings sky-rocketed from 5.7 million at the beginning of 2022 to 6.6 million at the end of the year, excluding China.

Overall, the number of Airbnb listings was up 15.7 percent year-over-year.

Consumer confidence is expected to remain high throughout 2023 as people continue to work from home and enjoy more opportunities to travel.
