CyberNYC Fellowship Overview

The NYC Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), in partnership with Fullstack Academy, is offering select full-tuition scholarships for qualifying NYC residents to attend the Fullstack Academy Cybersecurity Analytics Bootcamp at no cost.

The CyberNYC Fellowship is intended to increase access to high-quality, in-demand cybersecurity training for residents of New York City (the 5 boroughs). Starting at the beginner level, you’ll attend live online courses over a period of 13 weeks full-time, or 26 weeks part-time. You’ll work independently and as part of a team to learn, practice, and master cybersecurity concepts–receiving expert instruction and professional career coaching along the way.

Plus, you’ll build a portfolio of cyber projects to help you get hired–all with no cost to you, and no experience required to apply.

Students then graduate qualified for a range of entry-level cybersecurity roles. If you’re a natural problem-solver seeking a fulfilling career while also helping to keep the global threat of cybercrime at bay, this is the program for you.

To qualify, you must first match the eligibility requirements listed below, then apply and be accepted to the Fullstack Academy Cybersecurity Bootcamp of your choice and complete a scholarship application.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the CyberNYC Fellowship scholarship opportunity, NYC residents must first submit the Fullstack Academy Cyber Bootcamp program application, complete the admissions process, and be accepted into the bootcamp program.

To apply, all students must also:

  • Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent by the time of enrollment

  • Have an annual gross income of $50,000 or less (this includes those who are unemployed)

  • Currently reside in the 5 boroughs of NYC

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States


Tuition & Dates

The CyberNYC Fellowship covers the full cost of tuition for Fullstack Academy’s Cybersecurity Bootcamp ($15,980) plus an additional $2,200 in wraparound costs per student. Wraparound funds are reserved for the purchase of a laptop, as well as vouchers for supplemental examinations, and/or industry study materials provided to each student.

That means all costs immediately necessary for the Cybersecurity Analytics Bootcamp are included in the scholarship for each recipient.

Admissions Process

  1. Apply to the Fullstack Academy Cybersecurity Bootcamp of your choice, and indicate your interest in the scholarship via the associated checkbox.

  2. Complete the admissions assessment for the Fullstack Academy Cyber Bootcamp and receive a decision.

  3. If accepted, you will receive the CyberNYC Fellowship scholarship application to fill out and submit, which includes a short essay portion.

  4. Submit the scholarship application by the deadline and receive a decision. If you are not awarded the scholarship, you’ll receive an email with alternative payment options. If you are awarded the scholarship, you’ll be prompted to schedule an acceptance call with a Fullstack Academy Student Advisor.

  5. Recipients are then sent a scholarship agreement form and a link to upload their qualifying documentation. Once your documents are reviewed and approved, you’ll be given a final decision and begin preparing for the bootcamp program.


What if I Don’t Qualify?

If you do not qualify for the CyberNYC Fellowship scholarship or waitlist, you will be notified in time with a range of payment options to choose from. Should you choose to move forward as a Fullstack Academy Cybersecurity student, you will not be required to reapply.
