YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Locals are weighing in on the acquittal of the President as part of national demonstrations called "Reject the Cover Up."

A group of protesters has gathered on 24th street and 4th Avenue in Yuma.

The leader of Yuma County Indivisible, Liz Haskell, said just because President Trump was acquitted by the Senate does not mean he is innocent.

The chairman of the Colorado River Tea Party doesn't agree. He said he knew this would be the outcome and called the entire impeachment process a sham.

"Nothing they did was really wrong and I believe what they’ve done with this was to take the attention away from Hunter Biden and Joe Biden,” explained Gilbert Hernandez, chairman of The Colorado River Tea Party.

The protest is expected to last until 6:30 p.m.
