Travel/Vacation/Timeshare

I had the same offer to purchase an unused vacation package back from me for over $63,000. I was e-mailed a Letter of Intent during the call. When I asked why anyone would purchase a vacation package that I paid a few hundred dollars for at a price more than 20x more, they said a developer was looking to buy a lot of properties (or something like that). Apparently, the process would involve a lot of negotiation after I signed the letter. I told him I was skeptical but I would look into it. Another odd thing was that they did not have to correct spelling of my last name on the Letter of Intent.

Online Purchase - https://verifiers-updaters.com/home.php

I had a person call me from "Google" saying they would help get my business page to the top of the google search list my improving my SEO etc. She transferred me to her manager named Naban Wolfe who gave me the spiel on what they could help me with and offered me a life time opportunity to improve my google rating for 399.00 CAD. I said no at the time since I didn't have time to give them my CC. Called me back multiple times per day until I finally agreed to it. I figured I could use the help getting more people to my website. He did this thing where he would text me a verification code to my phone to ensure that this wasn't scam ha! and also gave me his contact info and name if I should need anything from him, I was given at Google Business Number and a confirmation code after he had processed the CC. After all of this he emailed me with information and the website came up as suspicion and then I looked up that Google would never ask for my CC over the phone. I tried to call back with the contact he gave me and no answer. I tried calling from another number and he called back right away. I said he wasn't from Google and he insisted he was and I asked for my money back and the transaction be reversed or cancelled. He said he accounting department would get back to me. Big surprise they never did.

Counterfeit Product - Ascertainy

The website is portraying artificial Boston Fern plants big enough to fill a planter. It shows there large plants on a single stem that open large and beautiful. What I received was a tiny stem plant, very cheap plastic about the size of my hand. I've requested a refund but was told it would be too expensive and they wanted to refund me $2 which I denied.

Online Purchase - Online heavy equipment sales scam

The scammer has a website selling construction equipment (backhoes, skid steers, etc.). I inquired about a backhoe and filled out a form to purchase it. I was sent a purchase agreement through what seemed to be a docusign website. Something just wasn't right about the purchase agreement. It was only 2 pages, and stated at the bottom I could sign, scan and email back. This was different than any other docusign process I have used with banks or other businesses. The serial number of the backhoe that was listed on the purchase agreement did not match the serial number in a photo they had sent of the data plate for the backhoe. The serial number according to the manufacturer of the backhoe should have been an 8 digit number, and the company had listed a 17 digit number. The 17 digit numbers were used in later models, according to the manufacturer. Another item of concern is that they list on their website that you have to pay 100% of the purchase price up front before the equipment will be shipped. Standard practice for most businesses is to pay a percentage of the purchase price as a deposit, and then pay the remainder when the item is delivered (usually COD with the delivery driver). According to Google maps, the address and street view does not match what they have on their website as a store front. I searched the street location extensively through Google maps and their business is not located at the address given on their website. The website seems very legit, but please beware as it is most likely a scam. Unfortunately, they have my contact information.

Retail Business - CarShield Imposter

This is the SECOND time I've reported this. It's not from a legitimate business, and I don't know why BBB thinks it is. As I reported the first time, the email address is not a Carshield email address, yet they say they're legitimate. It is just a picture of what CarShield really sends out, with none of the links able to be clicked on. Carshield uses www.carshield.com. This imposter uses www.carshieldprotection.com. The real CarShield wants your vehicle information since that's important for a quote about a car's warranty. The fake one only wants your personally identifiable information. The real CarShield uses [email protected] as their email address. The fake one uses this [email protected] as well as many other emails, none ending in carshield.com. After doing more research, Snopes.com warned people of this in 2022. BBB tells me they are legitimate and that I should complain about them. That might be why the real business is rated a D with them. They probably keep telling people to complain to the legitimate business because of scammers. I am hoping they see this is a scam since wherever you click on the email, it takes you to the scammer's website. My parents are older, and I don't want them to be scammed by this phishing email.

Online Purchase - Online Overseas Retailer Scam

Lintico shipped me a completely different item than i ordered. They asked me to send pictures for verification which i did (clear pictures showing the obvious differences: no buttons/pockets/different waistline and length) They responded saying that "the product aligns with what i ordered" and refused a refund offering only store credit. After doing some research, this is a conmon occurrence with them. They respond quickly to increase their response time rating to make them appear ethical.

Phishing

I went on-line because Amazon didn’t credit me a refund. The computer showed an option called refunds and a phone number. I clicked on that selection. The scammer answered the phone stating Amazon. I explained why I called. The scammer said that some people were trying to get into my Amazon account. If he put the refund into my account the hackers would take it out. He had me to go to several sites on my computer. One site was Apple. He told me I need to go to Walgreens, CVS, or 711 and purchase two Target gift cards. The Target gift cards should be for $350.00 each. He told me to stay on the line. I went to Walgreens and try to purchase 2 gift cards. Walgreens said they could only sale me 1 gift card for &350.00. I didn’t buy anything. I went back to the car a told the scanner what Walgreens clerk told. He said to go back into the store and purchase what they would sell me. When I went back into Walgreens I went to a different clerk and I purchased 2 Target gift cards. He told me to scratch off the card number. Open my camera and point it at the card where I scratched the number. Them he said I had to go to 711 to purchase 2 more gift cards. I asked why he said 4 more hackers were trying to get into my account. I told him that I wanted to speak to his supervisor. The supervisor told me the same thing. But he also said that once they get the hacker out of my account I wouldn’t have this problem anymore. I drove to 711. Before I when into the store I called Wells Fargo and asked for the fraud department. The representative told me that it was a scam. The representative told me to call the number on the back of the gift card. I did call the number on the back of the card. The representative said it was a scam. I when back to the car and told him I called my bank and they said he was a scammer. He said the Amazon was a big company and the back don’t know their operating processor. I hung on him. He called me back several times.
