What is Computer Engineering at WVU like?

Description

Computer Engineering teaches you how information systems are put together from components, and provides you with an understanding of both hardware and software systems. Computer Engineering provides the training necessary for some of the fastest growing fields, including big data analytics, cybersecurity, robotics and networking.

Our program provides a particularly strong emphasis on real-time and embedded systems. We also provide you with a unique set of opportunities to participate in national level student competitions against other universities.

Computer engineers are in high demand and some surveys rank computer engineering as the top paid engineering profession for new graduates.

Design and analysis of modern wireless data networks. Digital modulation techniques, wireless channel models, design of cellular networks, spread spectrum, carrier sense multiple access, ad-hoc networks routing, error control coding, automatic request strategies.

Data and Computer Communications

or consent for non-majors. An in-depth study of the Internet, networking fundamentals, protocols, algorithms, and principles of distributed computing, introduction to network security and management.

CS 465:
Introduction to Cybersecurity

Covers the fundamentals of cybersecurity, including encryption, malicious code, authentication and access control, database security, operating system security, and network security. Provides students with a comprehensive overview of the cybersecurity threats, technologies for information assurance, and engineering approaches to build and maintain secure computer systems and networks.

What are the requirements to apply for Computer Engineering at WVU?
