Purdue University Global cybersecurity bachelor’s degree program accredited by ABET

INDIANAPOLIS — The Purdue University Global Bachelor of Science degree program in cybersecurity has been accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology.

ABET accreditation assures that programs meet standards to produce graduates ready to enter critical technical fields that are leading the way in innovation and emerging technologies, and anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public.

“Purdue Global’s Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity degree provides the rigor and depth necessary for graduates to join the workforce fully prepared to assure security of their organizations’ assets and customers,” said Tina Burton, associate dean for the School of Business and Information Technology. “Our team continuously adds innovative resources, stimulating virtual labs, robust extracurricular activities and provides a highly engaged, collaborative student-faculty environment.”

Purdue Global’s cybersecurity bachelor’s degree helps students develop the skills and knowledge necessary to protect companies from a wide range of cyber threats. The degree provides rigorous training designed to help students master the fundamentals of cybersecurity, recognize best practices, and identify IT security threats and products.

Furthermore, the Purdue Global Cybersecurity Center is a resource for current and prospective IT and cybersecurity students to learn more about training programs and become more engaged in the cybersecurity community.

In August, Purdue Global was designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education through academic year 2025.

Sought worldwide, ABET’s voluntary peer-review process is highly respected because it adds critical value to academic programs in the technical disciplines, where quality, precision and safety are of the utmost importance.

Developed by technical professionals from ABET’s member societies, ABET criteria focus on what students experience and learn. ABET accreditation reviews look at program curricula, faculty, facilities and institutional support, and are conducted by teams of highly skilled professionals from industry, academia and government, with expertise in the ABET disciplines.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of information security analysts in the U.S. is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations from 2018 to 2028.
