Event information

An army of competitive dancers is ready to take over the world, one routine at a time.

Dance Nation depicts the angst and the ecstasy of a troupe of pre-teens, a mixture of the frightened and the feral, thrust into a world of cut-throat dance competition.

With a battle for power and perfection raging on and off stage, Clare Barron's Dance Nation is a ferocious exploration of youth, ambition and self-discovery. Paul Foster directs.

‘Blazingly original. Dance Nation conjures the passionate ambivalence of early adolescence with sharpness and poignancy.’ New York Times

Please note this production contains adult content and themes which are not suitable for children, including strong language, sexualised language, scenes of a sexual nature, depictions of blood and self-harm and references to cancer. There will also be strobe lighting, haze and gunshot sounds.

Running time: approx. 1 hour 40 minutes (no interval)

This amateur production of 'Dance Nation' is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk
