Biography

I am a population health scholar who seeks to understand social, economic, and policy causes of health inequity. The health conditions I examine—perinatal health and (separately) mental and behavioral health— often show strong disparities along racial/ethnic and socioeconomic lines. Much of my work attempts to isolate exposures, or antecedents, of health that approximate a natural experiment. I intend for my research to inform not only our basic understanding of human biology and behavior but also public health practice and health policy.
