After having an undeniably triumphant 2022, Mike Dimes is preparing to bring the same energy into 2023. Last year, the Texas native showed off his strengths across 12 titles on his IN DIMES WE TRUST project, nabbing features from Duke Deuce and Zay3k. In the months following that, he gave us singles like "TALK2ME," "247," "FLEEK," and an appearance on Dro Kenji's "STEP BACK."

The up-and-coming star took the last two months off to strategize, record, and prepare, but this New Music Friday (March 3), he dropped off magic in the form of "HEAVY METAL." It's been said that the song will appear on Dimes' forthcoming debut album, which his listeners are eagerly awaiting. Along with the track's arrival on DSPs, the lyricist also worked with director Will Bloom for a music video.

"HEAVY METAL" Visual: Mike Dimes Turns Up in San Antonio

It finds Dimes connecting with several of his fans in a San Antonio Whataburger parking lot, where they didn't hesitate to turn up. Production on "HEAVY METAL" came together thanks to Toro, Ayex, and JSK, whose use of an old-school sample at the top of the song help it stand out amongst others in the young artist's discography.

Since first coming onto the scene in 2021, the southern star has amassed an impressive crew of followers. His first full-length release, DLOG, was well received, with "LABELS CALLIN'" and "MY STORY (DLOG" emerging as fan favourites. From last year's project, listeners have kept titles like "NO TRENDS," and "HOME" in rotation while waiting to see what Dimes has in store for us next.

Quotable Lyrics:

Who in the spot got a tool?
Everybody look at the man who be postin' the shit but don't use it, uh
Get on the beat and abuse it, water to wine, I turn paper to music
If it ain't 'bout thе money, don't think I'm influenced
