Giving Tuesday in Sonoma County

After a filling Thanksgiving Day, opting outside on “Green Friday,” and supporting locals on Small Business Saturday, lean into the spirit of the season with Giving Tuesday.

This 8-year-old global celebration of generosity transforms communities by building up people power to donate to local causes and needs. This Giving Tuesday, Sonoma County is coming out in force to support our neighbors. Here are some ways that you, too, can celebrate the season this December 1st:

California Indian Museum and Cultural Center

Help preserve and elevate the story of our local indigenous peoples by donating to the California Indian Museum and Cultural Center. This Santa Rosa museum showcases California Indian cultures, educates the public, preserves traditions and cultural activities, and strengthens relationships with other indigenous groups.

Children’s Museum of Sonoma County

With your support, the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County is proud to be a museum for all children in our community, regardless of family income. Your donation this Giving Tuesday to the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County has a direct impact, making a difference in children’s live. Donations help fund hand sanitizing stations, masks and PPE equipment, diverse books, and new activities.

Safari West Wildlife Preserve

Help nurture and inspire the next generation of scientists, educators, and conservationists by donating to the Safari West Wildlife Foundation. Your donation to this cause helps subsidize Discover Africa Treks to hundreds of underfunded schools and operate a thriving Junior Keeper program. With your help, Safari West is able to introduce thousands of young people each year to an amazing world of wildlife and wonder.

Sonoma Land Trust

Sonoma Land Trust has protected more than 50,000 acres of beautiful land in Sonoma County. A lot of that land they’ve helped protect, such as Jenner Headlands Preserve, is accessbile for visitors to enjoy. This Giving Tuesday, they’re tripling any amount you give to continue their work to protect nature. Giving $25, for example, totals to $75. Help them reach their $1.2 Million Challenge For Nature.

Bricoleur Vineyards

Bricoleur Vineyards is just one example of Sonoma County businesses that are giving back this holiday season. Bricoleur has a selection of “Gift of Giving Back” packages, which donate to organizations that include Sonoma County Fire Relief and the Make-A-Wish-Foundation. With each package purchase, Bricoleur is donating to these organizations.

Other local wine organizations that are particpiating in Giving Tuesday includes the Sonoma County Vintners Foundation, which has dispersed more than $4 million to local nonprofits just in 2020. Ernest Vineyards and Valette are a couple of the local businesses participating in their Giving Tuesday campaign this year. Ernest Vineyards is  donating 20% of their wine sales on Giving Tuesday to their Giving Tuesday campaign, while Valette is donating 25% of all retail wine sales from November 23 through December 1. Orders can be placed through their website and utilizing the code “SCVF2020”.

Lastly, donations to the Sonoma County Grape Growers Foundation goes to partnerships and programs to support Sonoma County’s agricultural workforce and their families. You can also support Sonoma County’s amazing network of farms by donating to the Sonoma County Farm Trails, which helps support and promote Sonoma County’s many small farmers, ranchers, and producers.
