The city of Syracuse is hosting its own pro-impeachment rally on Wednesday night, as President Donald Trump has been acquitted of both charges against him during his impeachment trial: obstruction of Congress and abuse of power.

One woman who has been watching history unfold with a critical eye is Onondaga Community College Political Science Professor Nina Tamrowski. She said it is not a surprising outcome and has some predictions on what the coming days will look like. Certainly, she said it has been tense in the House and the Senate.

"I can picture there being some, you know, difficult challenges ahead as they try to work together," Tamrowski said. "Then, of course, we'll mostly be focused on the Democratic presidential nomination. That's probably going to garner most of our media attention for the next week."

Another woman at the Syracuse pro-impeachment rally said the worst part of watching the Senate vote on Wednesday afternoon was that she knew the President would be acquitted. She added the way the trial went and the reality now is an injustice to the American people.

"The voters, the people, that’s what matters. Not the senators and their votes today but for us out here working on using our voices, that’s what matters," said Samantha Sorensen.

Both New York Senators voted for the removal of the President, and Senator Mitt Romney notably did too, on one of the two articles.
