Help Ukraine

Vasco helped the victims of war in Ukraine

Ukrainian people are facing an unimaginable tragedy: they had to leave their homes, escaping the threat of the Russian military aggression. Therefore, since the beginning of the crisis, many have asked themselves how to help Ukraine.

From forming a specialist paramedic team to lending electronic translators to foundations helping refugees, we, as Vasco, are proud to have given an example on how to aid people fleeing the war in Ukraine.

War is hell. We should all do our best to make the Ukrainian refugees feel the warmth and safety of their homes, which they had to abandon. Therefore, we undertook various activities to help those people feel as much at home as possible.

Here is how we helped Ukraine

Stand with Ukraine activities

At the very beginning of the war in Ukraine, we provided our electronic translators free of charge to hospitals and various organizations in need of a Ukrainian translator.

We lent nearly 500 Vasco Translator devices to over 200 organizations from Poland, Romania, Spain, Slovakia, and Portugal. It enabled voice, photo, text, and group chat translations from or into Ukrainian.

What’s more, Vasco Translator devices were used by 12 big hospitals in Poland.

Our devices also helped in day care centers for children, as well as in non-governmental organizations that help refugees in various ways. All of them would organize workshops, sports and cultural activities, in addition to providing medical assistance.

Cooperation with organizations and foundations helping refugees

In order to help Ukraine, we cooperated with various organizations from all around Europe that provided aid for refugees.

For instance, we cooperated with Minority Rights Group International. it is an international organization With headquarters in London and offices in Budapest and Kampala. Their goal is to protect human rights in ethnic, national, religious, and language minorities.

The foundation received 25 Vasco Translator M3 devices to be used in autumn 2022.

Also, one of the groups we supported was Fundacja Ocalenie (The Saving Foundation).

Its goal is to help refugees build a new life in Poland by supporting them during their integration and individual development.

Being in a need for a Ukrainian translator, Fundacja Ocalenie received three Vasco devices to effectively communicate with the victims of war in Ukraine.

We also cooperated with Budapest Önkéntes Mentőszervezet Egyesület, a non-profit organization with a main objective to increase the safety of the Budapest population. What is more, our translators supported Fundația Inocenți București, a non-profit organization from Romania providing various forms of help to children.

Spannish Red Cross also received our translator devices.

Last, but not least, we cooperated with several hospitals, such as Východoslovenský onkologický ústav (Eastern Slovak Institute of Oncology) from Košice, Slovakia, and administrative units, such as District Office, also from Košice.

Job-seeking support

A few days after the war in Ukraine had started, we created and managed a Facebook group that helped refugees find jobs and accommodation in Poland.

Each of us also helped the people fleeing the Russian aggression individually.

We would give the Ukrainian refugees shelter in our own houses, in addition to organizing fundraisers and offering transport from the Polish-Ukrainian border.

PMM Vasco Emergency Team

Together with the Polish Medical Mission, we had been planning to establish the PMM Vasco Emergency Team — a rescue group whose goal is to help the victims of natural disasters and humanitarian crises around the world.

The outbreak of the war accelerated the establishment of the team. At the beginning, PMM Vasco Emergency Team focused on helping people who were fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Also, to aid the formation of the PMM Vasco Emergency Team, we started a special fundraiser in the USA. We decided to donate $10 of the profit generated from each purchased translator to support the Team.

Cooperation with a hospital in Drohobych, Ukraine

We’re also cooperating with the hospital in Drohobych by providing medical equipment, medicines, hospital beds and more.

We delivered over 20 tons of equipment (mattresses, trolleys, stretchers, and more), medicines, and food of a total value of over 2 million PLN.

In order to aid the medical professionals from the hospital in Drohobych, PMM Vasco Emergency Team also provided the facility with a modern field ambulance.

Let’s help Ukraine every day and share the kindness. It will return!
