Represented exclusively by Frontiers, Craig and Wade Fellin’s Big Hole Lodge is clearly defined as one of the great fly fishing destinations in North America. The wild trophy trout fishing possibilities are unmatched in the West, along with the unpressured fishing experience of Southwestern Montana. This Orvis-Endorsed Lodge is nestled in a magnificent wilderness setting in the Pioneer Mountains with a beautiful trout stream at its doorstep. Our returning guests have raved about the well-prepared meals, the attractive accommodations, and the exceptional guides.
With multiple rivers accessible, you will fish a wide variety of water, practicing small stream tactics and long-reaching casts on larger water for brown trout, rainbows, brookies, and cutthroats. Much of the fishing is conducted by floating; however, you will wade the smaller water.
Big Hole Lodge accommodates 8-12 in three spacious multi-bedroom private cabins with modern conveniences—all open to a panoramic view of the scenic Wise River Valley. The main Lodge is the perfect place to relax over a cocktail while enjoying spectacular mountain views and unforgettable meals.
We will provide a complete gear list. The Lodge also has a fly shop on-site. We like 4- to 6-wt. rods (depending on the streams you are fishing) with floating lines. Be sure to bring quality raingear, polarized sunglasses, waders, and a hat for sun protection. Dress in layers!
The Lodge typically operates on a 6-night/5-day program with Sunday arrival, five full days of guided fly fishing Monday through Friday, and departure the following Saturday. Shorter packages are available upon request based on availability. You'll be met at the Butte Airport and transferred south to the Lodge (approx. 45 mins). You may also opt to fly to Helena, Bozeman, or Missoula (all about 2 hours away), rent a car, and drive to the Lodge. The Lodge also welcomes nonfishing companions who can enjoy the beauty of the region and varied activities.
