Paul Lavelle

Paul Lavelle is the Head of U.S. National Accounts for Zurich North America and is responsible for the direction, management and performance of all large commercial and specialties business in the U.S.

Lavelle has more than 30 years of insurance experience and has held a number of claims and underwriting senior leadership and management roles. Prior to his appointment to Head of U.S. National Accounts, he served as Chief Claims Officer for Zurich North America. Before joining Zurich, he held several claims and underwriting senior leadership and management roles, first for Allstate and later at American International Group, Inc. (AIG) and National Union Underwriting. He also previously served as Senior Vice President, North America Claims Operations at Allied World Assurance Company, where he oversaw the North American Claim Operation, Bermuda and London. Prior to that he was President and Founder of LVL Claims Services, LLC, where he created and operated all facets of a professional liability claims adjusting company.

In 2017, the firm Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck named Lavelle Claims Executive of the Year, an award that recognizes leadership, character and technical expertise among claims professionals in the insurance industry.

Lavelle serves on the Board of Directors of the Partnership for New York City.

Educational background

Lavelle earned a bachelor's degree in science, management and human relations at Pace University in Pleasantville, New York.
