With the Mathildenhöhe App you go on a journey through time on the Mathildenhöhe. Historical views are superimposed on current images and illustrate how the Mathildenhöhe developed during and after the artist colony.
With the app you can not only navigate to the individual locations but also fade your current perspective with historical images using AR (Augmented Reality).
When Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig invited seven young artists of Art Nouveau to Mathildenhöhe in 1899, it was the birth of the Darmstadt artists' colony, which lasted until 1914. In four major exhibitions, the artists showed their idea of a modern, artistically designed living and living environment. Their buildings form the Gesamtkunstwerk Mathildenhöhe, which today is one of the most important Art Nouveau ensembles in Germany.
