Are you right for Ru?

Ru is looking for a loving home. He will need a home without another dog. He will need a home without a cat and we have no history of him with small furries or livestock. He has met a horse through a fence politely. He is housetrained and travels well in the car. He could cope with a reasonably busy home environment. Ru would be best suited to quieter walks so he can fully relax. He is an energetic dog who would suit an active lifestyle. He does build strong bonds and would like his humans to be with him for the majority of the time. Any time left alone will need to be built up gradually. Ru is living off-site in a foster home on our Home from Home Scheme. He is able to settle and relax while his foster carer works from home.

Is Ru right for you?

Ru is a handsome four-year-old Lurcher cross. After a few days in a foster home on our Home from Home Scheme Ru became the perfect house guest. His foster carers describe him as ‘a joy to have around, a happy boy in the home and likes snoozing and snuggling!’ Ru loves to be close to his people and will follow his foster carers about the house, he settles well and he loves to join his foster carers on the sofa and he sleeps on the bed with them at night-he sleeps really well all through the night. Ru is instantly friendly with new people and has been fine with the visitors to the foster home. He is very loving and enjoys a fuss and a snuggle on his terms. Ru enjoys playing with soft toys, he likes to play fetch with a soft toy, and he will sometimes carry them with him on a walk. He likes to play ball in the garden. Ru is energetic and enjoys long walks. He may become overwhelmed in dog-busy locations and with his foster carer he has been finding quieter, rural locations where he can relax into his walk. He responds well to his name paired with a treat when he is calm and the environment around him is quiet. Ru’s dog social skills will need continuing practice which our training and behaviour team can guide adopters with. Ru is smart and enjoys learning. He enjoys doing food puzzle toys. He enjoys high value treats such as chicken and sausage and he knows a ‘sit’ and ‘paw’.
