UWF named ‘Great College to Work For’ for ninth year

The University of West Florida was named a 2021 “Great College to Work For,” marking the institution’s ninth appearance on the list.

Conducted annually, the Great Colleges to Work For survey collects data and highlights colleges that receive top ratings from their employees on workforce practices and policies. This year, 196 institutions participated in the survey and 70 received recognition.

UWF earned honor roll in all 10 recognition categories: Job Satisfaction & Support; Compensation & Benefits; Professional Development; Mission & Pride; Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness;  Confidence in Senior Leadership; Faculty & Staff Well-being; Shared Governance; Faculty Experience; and Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging.

“This honor reminds us of our extraordinary employees who contribute to making UWF a great place to work,” said UWF President Martha D. Saunders. “At UWF, we provide a positive environment that encourages growth and opportunities for forward-thinking among our spirited community of learners.”

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captured employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback. Honor Roll status, for four-year institutions, is given to the ten institutions in each size that were cited most often across all of the recognition categories.

ModernThink, a strategic human capital consulting firm, administered the survey and analyzed the results. The Chronicle of Higher Education published the results in its September issue.

UWF has also received recognition in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019 and 2020.
