'You cannot go down this road, but that's exactly what they want to do.'

Gov. Ron DeSantis is offering a defense of gas stoves in the wake of potential federal moves to eliminate these kitchen appliances.

On Tuesday in Bonita Springs, the Florida Governor slammed a push to ban the appliances, which were staples in kitchens in bygone eras, and are still used today, noting that they had particular utility after recent devastating hurricanes hit the Sunshine State.

“The (Joe) Biden administration wants to nix gas stoves, are you kidding me? Like we need, I want gas stoves. I mean, imagine how many people, had the hurricane come through, didn’t have power right away, but were able to turn on. You cannot go down this road, but that’s exactly what they want to do,” DeSantis lamented.

The Governor’s defense of gas stoves was part of wider remarks that encompassed subjects ranging from Davos to the Communist Chinese government, and it comes in the wake of reports that gas stoves are on the federal government’s chopping block.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is sounding alarms about potential hazards from the appliances, specifically indoor air contamination.

“This is a hidden hazard,” said Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. in an interview with Bloomberg. “Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.”

Estimates are that 40% of U.S. stoves use natural gas currently. Such a ban would not be immediate, NBC News reports.

“Agency staff plans to start gathering data and perspectives from the public on potential hazards associated with gas stoves, and proposed solutions to those hazards later this year,” a statement provided to the network said. “Commission staff also continues to work with voluntary standards organizations to examine gas stove emissions and address potential hazards.”

Others in the DeSantis orbit are offering similarly grim warnings, including former spokesperson Christina Pushaw, who framed a potential gas stove ban as embodying the collectivist spirit of the USSR.

“Biden will ban gas stoves for normal people. Not for elites. This is Soviet America: Rules for thee, not for me,” Pushaw tweeted Tuesday morning.

NO ONE IN THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION WILL BAN GAS STOVES NEXT WEEK, NEXT MONTH OR NEXT YEAR!

America migrated away from whale oil street lamps in the 19th century. Fossil fuels will be history by the 22nd century.

Republicans refuse to face the future and wish to return America to a non-existent imaginary magical 1940’s America.

Is this gas stove banning like banning Presidents with dementia because they are harmful to most Americans?

Maybe the House of Representatives could look into this issue.

Notice that President Biden does NOT use an electric car either. Why doesn’t he? Is it not safe? Inconvenient? Unreliable?

This whole thing was a tempest in a teapot on both sides. The President doesn’t drive himself anywhere.
Reagan already tested the dementia rule.
