KINGS ROYAL RESCHEDULED

Eldora Speedway has rescheduled the 37th annual Kings Royal Weekend, the legendary half-mile dirt oval’s marquee sprint car event, to July 2021.

The Ohio Department of Health’s current orders restricting mass gatherings and spectator events at large venues, a part of the state’s response to the COVID-19 health crisis, remain in effect

TICKET INFORMATION

All advance tickets, pit passes, campsites and suite admissions for the 37th Kings Royal will be honored for the rescheduled date in July 2021. Race fans should retain all tickets, credentials, passes and receipts they have received to date.

With tickets being rolled over to 2021 now, it eliminates the need to conduct a renewal period just four months from now. This saves both the Speedway and the race fan processing fees and order fees associated with new ticket orders.

However, refunds are being made available in the event of personal hardships. If requesting a refund, patrons must send back all physical tickets/camping permits/vouchers and include a signed letter indicating the requested refund. Be sure to include primary account holder name and phone number. Refund requests are to be mailed to Eldora Speedway Tickets, 13929 State Route 118, New Weston, OH 45348 and must be postmarked by July 20, 2020.  If requesting a refund and tickets are currently in Will Call, a signed letter is still required. All refunds will be issued by method of original purchase. Refund requests will be issued in the order they are received. Please allow up to 4 weeks for refunds to be processed and credit issued back to individual card statements.

Please be aware that Kings Royal tickets or campsites that get refunded are not eligible for renewal towards the 2021 event as they will go back into the public pool of available tickets for others to purchase. Please see the FAQ section below for additional refund details.

HOW WE GOT TO THIS POINT

Eldora officials, who have been working with local and state officials since April to establish re-opening guidance, submitted a detailed proposal to Governor Mike DeWine, the Ohio Department of Health, and the Darke County General Health District, for the return of spectator events at 50 percent capacity during the months of July and August.

The proposal included key learnings from Eldora’s lone race of the 2020 season, a restricted-access competitor-only contest, “The Dirt Late Model Stream Live on FloRacing,” held June 4-6. The non-spectator event operated in accordance with a strict Event Protocol developed by Eldora in concert with the world’s top motorsports sanctioning bodies which was reviewed and approved by both the Darke County General Health District and the Ohio Department of Health.

With the encouragement of state officials, Eldora extended its self-imposed deadline to announce a decision on the Kings Royal from June 19 to June 24. When the date passed without approval from state officials, Eldora submitted a “Restart/Reseat Reserved Seat Map” further reducing capacity to just 17.76 percent and submitted it to Governor DeWine Thursday morning.

However, with the Ohio Department of Health’s current orders and with reopening guidance yet to be established by Responsible RestartOhio, spectators remain prohibited from grandstands at Ohio’s large venues – including Eldora Speedway.

+      Will you have a non-spectator event similar to the Dirt Late Model Stream in June?

  • All of our efforts to this point have been concentrated on one thing: how to host race fans responsibly and safely for the 37th Kings Royal Weekend on July 15-18, 2020.
Now that Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health have ruled this is not possible, we are working with our partners to gauge the feasibility of a non-spectator event.

+      Can I exchange my Kings Royal tickets for tickets to another event?

  • Due to the fluid nature of the 2020 season and the coronavirus pandemic, we cannot offer exchanges to other events on the 2020 schedule. Simply put, we do not know if or when we will be permitted to host fans in 2020.

+      What about the Dirt Derby at the end of July and the events the rest of the summer?

  • There are no official decisions made on any upcoming events other than the Kings Royal. We will continue our efforts to gain the necessary approval to open for our remaining events in 2020. Our coronavirus page is updated, when necessary, with schedule changes. Of particular interest with other upcoming events, we realize the urgency that surrounds Dirt Derby planning and will give an update just as soon as we can.

+      What about the other events you postponed earlier this year? What is happening with those?

  • Those events are still classified as ‘postponed’ for now. We have plans in place should a window of opportunity arise that we are legally permitted to conduct events with fans. We simply don’t know if or when that will happen in 2020 so we can only suggest that you continue checking back for updates.

+      Do you know the date of the 2021 Kings Royal?

  • The 37th Annual Kings Royal will be conducted in July of 2021. The exact dates will be announced soon.
