Transforming Lives Through Food

PCK changes lives by providing its students with increased employability and hope through training, support, and practical experience filling contracted orders, catering events and producing meals for our neighbors in need.

About PCK

Philabundance Community Kitchen (PCK) is 16-week culinary vocational training program that has been transforming the lives of its students since 2000.  Participating students represent a diverse community of adults 18 and up with low-no-income and excited about culinary-based careers.  PCK promotes the self-sufficiency of its students by preparing them for and connecting them to work in the food service industry and allows them to give back by preparing needed meals for those in need.

Workforce Development

Life Skills Not Just Knife Skills

PCK’s curriculum goes beyond a foundation in the culinary arts. Students in the program also learn life skills, helping secure employment and provide tools to build a career and a second chance at life. Students in the program will:

  • Practice life and job readiness skills to help build a foundation for future positive growth.
  • Receive eight weeks of classroom instruction and hands-on training in a restaurant style kitchen, learning the basics of food preparation, meal planning and beginning food service management practices.
  • Receive an additional eight weeks of high-volume meal production training in a state-of-the-art commissary kitchen.
  • Obtain in-depth food safety instruction and the opportunity to test for the ServSafe certificate.
  • Receive continued services for a minimum of two years to maximize employment opportunities and continue to build positive work behavior post-graduation.

There are things that are developed here like the employment help.  Building resumes and cover letters.  Doing things that are important not just for this industry but for all industries”
