Our physicians are not only training tomorrow's doctors, they are also board-certified, meaning they have demonstrated a mastery of the knowledge and skills that define their specialty.

Patient safety measures

To help protect against flu and other respiratory illnesses, all University Health patients are required to wear face coverings to their appointments. All patients will continue to be screened for symptoms upon arrival.
Patients are asked to come to their visit alone, all guests will be asked to wait in the car unless they are needed to assist the patient.

Vaccine information

At this time, University Health does not have COVID-19 vaccines for patient distribution. All COVID-19 vaccine distribution is being coordinated by Washoe County as outlined by the State of Nevada's Vaccine Playbook version 3. COVID-19 Symptoms

People with COVID-19 have reported a wide range of symptoms – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms can include:

Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fever
Chills
Muscle pain
Sore throat
Loss of taste or smell

Other less common symptoms have been reported, including gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. This list is not all possible symptoms.

Increased Risk Factors

COVID-19 is a new disease and there is limited information regarding risk factors for severe disease. Based on currently available information and clinical expertise, older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19.

Please inform your provider if you’re at higher risk for severe illness.

Testing Information

The Washoe County Health District is offering free COVID-19 drive-thru testing. Testing is also being done at area hospitals. To get tested, residents must have symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, sore throat or loss of taste or smell, per CDC guidance. Your physician can refer you to get tested, or you can complete a COVID-19 risk assessment through Covid19Washoe.com.

In case of emergency

If you need immediate medical attention, do not drive to a hospital or emergency room. Please call 911, and REMSA will evaluate you for possible COVID-19 exposure and transport you to the appropriate health care facility.
