On the conclusion of COP27, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said: "The world still needs a giant leap on climate ambition (...) COP27 concludes with much homework and little time."

24 hours ahead of the scheduled closing time of COP27, UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on governments to overcome their differences and deliver meaningful results. "The parties at COP27 have a chance to make a difference – here and now. I urge them to act - and act quickly," he said.

The UN Climate Change High-Level Champions, the COP27 Presidency and the Marrakech Partnership will take stock of the contribution of non-State actors at COP27 with their closing event this afternoon. In the presence of the United Nations Secretary-General, it wraps-up a two-week programme of activities, which included the launch of the Sharm El-Sheikh Adaptation Agenda and the Africa Carbon Markets Initiative.
